CHARISMATIC WEEK (23/07/21)
WATCHMAN CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MOVEMENT Day 3
Theme: The Unrecognized But Great Friend From Heaven
Topic: JESUS, THE SUPPLIER OF THE NEEDS OF THE NEEDY
Texts: Jn. 1:9-11; 5:1-7; Lk. 24:13-32
In the last session, by the illumination of the Holy Spirit, we saw Jesus as the Seed of the woman that was introduced in the garden of Eden, Who would crush the head of the serpent (Jn. 15:20). It has been a time of times, that was arranged by the Lord to achieve great goals in our lives.
This night, we shall survey yet another side of Jesus, the unrecognized by Great Friend from heaven. The aspect in question is Jesus, the Supplier of the needs of the needy. For us to see Him as the Supplier of the needs of the needy, the way that Peter saw Him as Christ from heaven, we must do the following
(1). List and describe the needy of His day (2). Consider why and how He supplied their needs.
Following these, we will consider how it applies to us this time.
- LITANY OF THE NEEDY IN THE DAY OF JESUS CHRIST (Mk. 1:37; Matt. 4:23-25; Act. 10:38)
A record of the needy in the day of Jesus Christ shows that
all were needy in His day. Some had needs directly for themselves, while others had needs for their relations, children, servants, etc. The needy in His day
cut across all the ranks and files of human beings, while their needs ranged from
physical to spiritual things. Some sought Him for provisions, others for healings and deliverance, others for spiritual things like salvation, interpretation of scriptures, etc. (Matt. 4:23-24; 8:1-3, 5-9, 14, 15; Mk. 4:37-40; Matt. 9:1-8, 18, 20-22, 27-30, 32; Jn. 7:37-; 12:10-14, 15-21; 20:20-27; 9:36-; 22:50-51; 13:11-17; 5:1-8; 21:15-18; Act. 1:8, etc.). Some identified all their needs, while some have their needs pointed out by Him. All in all, all the needs of the needy were supplied by Him in His days.
- WHY AND HOW HE SUPPLIED THEIR NEEDS (Act. 10:38)
The major reason for supplying all the needs of the needy in His days on earth was because He was
ordained to do so (Gen. 22:15, 18; Matt. 9:6; Isa. 61:1-3; 45:20-22; Jn. 1:16; Heb. 10:7; 1Pet. 5:7; Act. 4:12; Ps. 4:19; Isa. 9:6-7; Act. 10:38).
He was able to do this through the
power of God that was in Him (Isa. 61:1-3; cp. Lk. 4:14-18; Matt. 28:18; 11:27; 9:1-8; Jn. 3:34-35; 10:17-18; 17:11-12; act. 10:38; etc).
IMPLICATION
Jesus being the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8) means that He remains the only one ordained to supply all our needs. In His day in the world, He needed that the Spirit of God be upon Him to achieve this, but today He has returned to His full glory as God. So whatsoever He was able to do while on earth, He will much more and readily do them now that He is in heaven.
So, whatsoever be anyone’s needs (for himself or his beloved ones or whosoever), he can get from Jesus now, as he comes to Him on the basis of this truth; regarding Him as the great Friend from heaven.
Let us pray.
