The time we dwell in is the predicted time of prevalence of plagues, famine, and all manner of social vices and disorders (Matt.24:7; 2Tim.3:1), which negate the will of God for His people (3Jn.2). And many of God’s people are unfortunately unaware of their Father’s will in this direction (Hos.4:6; Jer. 8:7).

To enjoy the era, we have to be informed on this subject matter.

INHERITANCE in our context is the irreversible gift from God (the Benefactor) to His people (the recipients) entrenched in His covenant packages.

HEALTH is the state of fitness of the body or of the mind; or the state of being free from illness or injury.

It is worthy of note that all matters of illness/diseases are the product of the fall (Gen.3:7;                      ). However, the omniscient God made preparation for tackling the atrocious coup against mankind perpetrated by the devil, which has ill health as one of the consequences (Gen.3:15; Rev.13:8). Among the items that constitute the bruising of His heel are the designated stripes to be received (Isa.53:5).

Meanwhile, before the execution of the divine health project, the Lord made His will (as per health) known, and also arranged for the healing of the sick (Exo.15:26; Ps.103:3; Num.21:8-9; 2Kgs.5:10; 20:7; Isa.38:21).

Scripture suggests that because the Lord Jesus did a comprehensive salvation work at the cross nothing else needs to be done to stay healthy (2Cor.8:9; 1Pet.2:24), but rather there is a call for wisdom – the ability to make profitable use of knowledge (Pro.4:7; 23:3; LK.16:8; Mk.6:31).

The apostle, Paul recommended wine to his son, Timothy in 1 Tim 5:22 for his stomach’s sake and often infirmities (Gk. astheneia meaning feebleness of body/mind or malady). And Epaphroditus nearly died from stress-related illness while attending to the apostle (Phil.2:25-27, 30; cp. Rom.15:4).

It must be noted that the death of the Lord Jesus did not affect the virulence of disease-causing organisms but rather released the power (energy, authority) to stay healthy or free of the virulence of the germs (cons. Dan.3:22-27). However, to enjoy divine health; the child of God must know that –

i)    Faith in the stripes of Jesus is not negotiable (Isa.53:5; 1Pet.2:24). ii)   Knowledge is essential for progress in every aspect of life (Pro.23:4; Hos.4:6). iii)  God has made available resources on earth to keep a man healthy (Gen.2:15-17; Ps.104:14). iv)  Maintenance of divine health goes with guidance by the Holy Spirit (JN.14:26;  Rom.8:14;                   2Kgs20:1,3-5). v)  The Holy Spirit can lead His people to resources that enable perpetual/lasting health (cp. 1 Tim.5:22; 2Kgs.20:7; Ps.104:14; Rev.22:2). vi)  The place of observance of the Sabbath (rest) cannot be overemphasized; for stress is a major cause of ill health, as it weakens the body and makes it subject to dysfunction, disrepair, and diseases (Exo.23:12). vii)  The conscious effort to maintain a sound mind is one of the keys to healthy living. (Pro.4:23; Matt.6:25,34; Phil.4:6,8). viii)  Eating right is a major factor in healthy living: moderate quantity of food, quality of food; right timing of meals, and drinking sufficient water make for health. Unapproved concoctions/roots/herbs must be avoided as they can do a lot of damage to the fragile filters in the kidneys (2Kgs.4:38-41). ix)  Cleanliness of habit and habitat supports good health (Deut. 23:12-13) x)  Regular controlled fastings with good water intake help detoxification and maintenance of health. xi)  Sin festers sickness, and all forms of sorrow, attracting spirits that can exacerbate disease conditions (Jn.5:14; 8:11). xii)  There is some profit in physical exercise (1 Tim.4:8).

A time is coming when the prevailing environment shall make for great health of inhabitants (Isa.33:24; 66:19-22).

God’s will is that His people enjoy good health wherever they are; and in our present time, it takes faith, wisdom, and knowledge to do so (Heb.11:1; Pro.4:7; 24:3,4).
