In the last Retreat, the General Superintendent declared that Watchmen are enigmas! We must appreciate the time that we are in. it is called End Time which began in the 6
th dispensation (1Cor. 10:11-13; Heb. 1:2)
To do justice to the topic, we shall consider the following:
(A) The Characteristics of enigmas (B) The Call of the Watchman (C) The Consequence of failure.
- THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ENIGMAS
The word enigma was originally used for words that formed a riddle or a complicated metaphor that tested one’s alertness or cleverness. It means something hard to define or understand. When used for men, it refers to a person that is difficult to understand or mysterious; unfathomable or unpredictable person.
What can one say of Abram that was called out of his family to an undefined location and he obeyed? (Gen. 12:1-7); what about Moses who left the comfort of a world-class palace to follow an oppressed people (Heb. 11:24-26) What about John the Baptist who led an ascetic life in the wilderness and never sought to go to the cities and minister? (Matt. 3:1-4) And Apostle Paul who had a great future with the religious Jews but chose to identify with people of low status, and made no provision for the pleasures of life (Phil. 1:21, 3:13,14) The eleven sound apostles were enigmas who left their families and means of livelihood to follow the Master (Mk. 10:28) Their generation could not understood them (Acts 4:13; 1Pt. 4:4)
To be like such men, one must be:
- Born again or regenerated (Jn. 3:1-5; Rom. 6:11,14; 1Pt. 2:2)
- Consecrated to the Lord and separated from the world (Jn. 15:19, 17:14; Rom. 12:1-2; 2Tim. 4:10; 1Jn. 2:15-17; Jude 22-23)
- Dead to self and never mellows down in the love of the Lord because of temporal challenges (Jn. 12:24,25; Rom. 8:13; Gal. 2:20, 5:24; Eph. 4:22)
- Adamant to worldly view but alive to God’s and so addicted to pleasing Him (Lk. 14:26; Jn. 8:29; Gal. 6:14)
- Pure in heart (Matt. 5:8; 1Thess. 5:23; Ps. 119:165) such hearts don’t entertain toxic thoughts
- Baptized with the Holy Ghost and so demonstrate supernatural abilities (Lk. 24:49; Jn. 14:26; Acts 1:4-8, 2:1-4, 6:1-4)
- Living in the awareness of the brevity of earthly pilgrimage and so pursue eternal things with passion and even hazard their lives (Phil. 1:21; 2Cor. 5:15; Acts 15:26; Rev. 12:11)
- Committed to divine vision (Prov. 29:18; Matt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:20; Acts 26:19) We have a divine vision (Isa. 49:5,6)
(B) THE CALL OF THE WATCHMAN
The GS was prepared and called to be among the ministers that will prepare the church for rapture; and so given the vision: first of the Roman Church as our Jerusalem and then to entire body of Christ (Isa. 49:5,6)
This vision of the entire body of Christ came after a great outing captioned Mbaise On The Hill. This calling is to serve as a medium for the restoration of the body of Christ and illumination of the entire world. The IGMC of the hour is the arm attending to the body of Christ.
Currently, the watchmen are relatively sleeping and slumbering (Isa. 21:11-12; 56:10-12)
(C) THE CONSEQUENCES OF NEGLECT
Though God is the embodiment of love, He is also of righteousness and justice; and therefore, rewards men according to their works (Matt. 16:27; Rom. 2:6; Rev. 22:12)
So, anyone that despises the calling and facts to meet his obligation, shall come to a day of reckoning when the righteous Judge will impartially mete out justice. The indifferent will lament in eternity (Lk. 14:16-24; 12:47,48) Fortunately, the resources needed to execute ministry are at our behest.
It is Rehoboth: Time of expansion of tent and territory.
Let us rise up in prayer and praise to take our place in annals of human history.
The Lord will break any yoke upon your life that is detrimental to your success; for the captives of the mighty shall be taken away (Isa. 49:24-26); the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon you any more (Ps. 125:3)
A great door and effectual has been opened unto us, let us rise and take the battle to the gate.
