In the second day, we exposed blood covenants focusing on the most potent which endorsed or ratified the new covenant even the everlasting covenant (Heb.13:20). That the new covenant is superior to the old (Heb.8:6-8) and that this blood terrifies the devils and speaks the will/promises of the agreement (Heb.12:24). It came into effect at the death of the God-man, Testator (Heb.9:16,17). Now, be informed that identification with this new covenant which comes with the acceptance of the Lordship of Jesus translates the sinner to a saint, a holy one, a citizen of heaven, a kingly priest (Phil.3:20, 1Pt.2:9, Rev.1:6)); and such persons have authority in their mouths (Eccl.8:4). This brings us to the message of today: Title: COMMANDING THE MORNING Subtexts: Job 38:1-12, Isa.45:11 Theme: THE COVENANT AND YOUR DESTINY (Day 3) Texts: Gen.15:1-18, 17:1-10; Ex.3:7-8,13-15, 12:29-36 Righteous but ignorant Job had been lamenting and accusing God of different things since his wilderness experience began. Then, at the terminal part of the drama, the Master-Designer in the 38th Chapter of the book accosted Job, queried and challenged him, alluding to excellence of His divine deeds, and capability. Amidst the challenge was the question, “have you ever commanded the morning since your days began?” Secondly, God spoke to Israel through the prophet saying Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons and concerning the work of My hands command ye Me” ie “give Me orders concerning the works of My hand”. We shall look at the two key words: Command (a verb) and Morning (a noun). So the message shall come under 2points: (A) The directive : Command (B) The details on the Morning (A) THE DIRECTIVE, COMMAND The word ‘command’ was translated from the Hebrew tsavah (pronounced tsaw – vaw’) which means To constitute, to enjoin, To set up or appoint. As a verb, it refers to verbal communication by which a superior orders or commands a subordinate as Pharaoh ordered his men concerning Abram (Gen.12:18-20). It can also apply to an order to a subordinate to act in a recurrent similar situation as the Lord God instructed man (Gen.2:16). It was translated “bade” in Ruth 3:6. So, it is a word used by persons in authority, and the most frequent subject of this verb is God Who commands and things simply occur (Ps.33:9, Gen.1:1-3, 6-8, 11). The Lord Jesus followed His Father’s footsteps of speaking/commanding, and had results: Tempest (Matt.8:23-27), Fig (Matt.21:17-20, Mk.11:12-18, 20-23); Devils (Mk.5:1-13); Late son of a widow (Lk.7:11-15; Dead Lazarus (Jn.11:39-44), Impotent man (Jn.5:1-9). The Lord Jesus informed His disciples of their authority before and after His resurrection (Lk.1019, Mk.16:15) and they acknowledged (Acts 3:1-8, 10:32-35, 10:36-41, 14:8-11). As joint-heirs, priest and kings, we have access to God and authority to likewise command (Rom.8:17, Eph.2:6, Rev.1:5); we shall command the morning. (B) THE DETAILS ON THE MORNING There are several Hebrew words translated morning which range from very early morning till full day-break like mishchar – sense of day breaking (Ps.110:3), shachar – dayspring (Job 38:12b); but ours (Job 38:12a) is bôqer (pronounced bό–ker): break of the day. It indicates the point of time at which the night is changing to day or that time at the end of night. It is a time of change from darkness to light (cons. Judg.19:25, Ruth 3:13,14), divine operation (Ex.10:13), divine supply (1Kgs.17:6); availability of strength to leave a place (1Sam.1:19), and grave people seek to achieve set goals because of clement weather (1Sam.3:15, 11:11, 15:12, 20:35, 2Chro.20:20, 13:10-11). The morning is time to speak to situations and opportunities (Deut.32:1, Isa.1:2, Ezk.37:3-12). For us, the morning is the threshold of change; a time of opportunity to birth something. Morning is a time of emergence of new things (Gen.1:5,8,13 etc cp. Ps.110:3). It should be noted that the night was a time of secular inactivity and so there is no labour or productions; a time of restrictions etc (Jn.9:4). Boqer was also used as a representation of the resurrection (Ps.49:14) and the place where the sun rises (Ps.65:8). Today, we know that the phenomenon of the rising of the sun is sequel to the rotation of the planet, Earth. Therefore, the place the sun rises is traceable to the power rotating the earth! Here we are in boqer. It is time to speak! Following the LEAP declarations, the gate of opportunities got opened, and since then God’s promises have been falling from the pulpit of many colors. Therefore, take advantage of the fertile soil and sow: command your desires and you shall have (Mk.11:23). They are the orders brought to God (Isa.45:11). The rain of thy seed has been given, SOW now (Isa.30:23)
