Let us proceed to   see Him as (1) The Interim Judge and (2) The Final Judge.
  • THE INTERIM JUDGE (Jn.5:22; 9:39)
The interim judgment of Jesus is a very interesting one. For one thing-no person who makes a good plea can be left un -forgiven. The good plea is considering and accepting that one is blind; nothing has sinned and needs forgiveness and acquittal (Jn.9:39).   Unfortunately, many people, due to one thing or the other have refused to acknowledge that they are blind, ignorant and sinful, hence they remain in their sin, blindness, ignorance and all things associated with them (Jn.9:41).   What do we learn from this? Simply this – let everyone yield today, tomorrow and at all time to the interim judgment of the Lord through His word and Spirit, as we listen to the sermons, teachings, counsellings from His servants, and as we listen and agree with the Spirit of God as His convinces us of any errors, sins, foolishness. Let us plead guilty whenever we are convicted through any other above means. As we do, we remain continuously justified on our way to eternity.
  1. JESUS, THE FINAL JUDGE (Jn.5:22;  Acts  17:31;  2:16,
14:10; 1Cor.4:5; 2Cor.5:10; 2Tim.4:1)   The final judgment of the Lord Jesus, unlike the interim judgment is not as interesting as his interim judgment. The reasons – (i) no pleas will   be taken (ii) it will be laden with sorrows.   Whether it be His judgment of believers for reward (1Cor.4:5; 2Cor.5:10), or the judgment of all sinners (Acts 17:31; Rom.2:16; 14:10; 2Tim.4:1), no pleas will be taken. The standards had been stated and preached in the world and the decisions to reward or not reward, to cast into hell fire or receive into heaven had been taken before the time of the judgment (cons. Jn.12:48; 1Cor.3:11-15; Matt.25:31-46).   WHAT IS THE INFERENCE?   The inference is that all should judge themselves (1Cor.11:31) and submit to the interim judgment of the Lord as already described (Jn.9:39-41), so as to avoid the judgment where no pleas will be taken (Rev.21:3-8).
