Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement

Topic:                    FILL THE POTS WITH WATER,… THEN DRAW OUT Text:                               Jn.2:1-11  INTRODUCTION:

The Almighty God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is the All-knowing and All able. He sees the blackest ant in the darkest night. He knows the finest details of the farthest stars. Before Him, there is nothing secret because known unto Him are ALL His works from the foundation of the world; and all things are naked and opened unto His eyes (Acts 15:18, Heb.4:13).

He gave His Son, Jesus Christ ALL authority and power to prevail: exhibit dominion over all creatures (Matt.28: 18; 1Cor:15:27; Eph.1:19-22).

And so He stands behind Jesus at all times and agrees with whatsoever Jesus has agreed with.

Our text is a pioneer event that transpired during the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We shall consider the following points (A) The Acute Need (B) The Astonishing Instructions (C) The Amazing Result

(A)      THE ACUTE NEED (Jn.2:1-5; 1Kgs.17:8-16; Matt.8:1,2; Mk.5:1-7)

The planners of the feast did not envisage any impending state of lack else they would have made contingency plans. But when they became perplexed by the sudden lack of wine, the earthly mother of Jesus stepped in and led them to Jesus, saying ‘whatsoever He saith unto you, do it!’

Today, there are people that have been embarrassed by events that propped up in their lives and are in dire need. There are people in need of salvation or some other spiritual experience. There are those in need of deliverance from oppression, obsession or possession. There are people who have come to crossroads and so are in need of guidance; there are those that need good health, fruit of the womb, etc. All these have come or been brought to Jesus for His intervention.

(B)      THE ASTONISHING INSTRUCTION (Jn.2:5-8; cp. Josh.6:1-16,20; 2Kgs.3:9-25; 4:1-7; 5:1-19; 2Chro.20:1-3, 14-25.

At that time, although the Lord wasn’t primed for ministry, He nevertheless attended to the needs of the celebrants because of His empathy i.e. power to mentally experience the feelings of others (cons. Matt.7:12).

To acquire the desired, He gave an amazing instruction. “Fill the pots with water…” Then “draw out now and bear unto the governor of the feast”.

The instructions were not hard to keep although they appeared unrealistic.

The instruction today is pray and believe, then accept the declarations that will come from the pulpit of many colours.

But as they obeyed, they got an amazing result.

( C)     THE AMAZING RESULT (Jn.2:8-11; Matt.19:26; Jer.32:27; 2Kgs.2:19-22)

The wine that emanated from the water was of excellent quality as it was commended/ complimented by the master of ceremony (Jn.2:9). The Lord rewards obedience and stands by the counsels of His messengers (Isa.1:19, 44:26). He does beyond the expectations of men (Eph.3:20).

And tonight, He will do as He is known to do In Jesus’ Name! (Mal.3:6).

What is that molesting, embarrassing or terrorizing need in your life? What the Lord did to its like in the Bible times, He will do to it today!

As you effectually pray and believe, you would have filled the pots with water and drawn out; and some excellent testimony shall follow you in Jesus’ Name!

Let’s rise to pray.                                                     HSCF 138, 149
