Today, we are dealing with the indispensability of eternal life as nothing can really be amazing without it.
There are basically 3 classes of life reflected in the Greek language in the King James Version namely Bios, Psuche, and Zoe.
Bios (pron. Bee-os) is the present state of existence. It was translated life, lifetime (Lk.8:14; 1Tim.2:2; 2Tim.2:4; 1Pet.4:3), livelihood (Mk.12:44; Lk.8:43; 15:12,30), good (1Jn.3:17). Psuche (pron. Psoo-khay) means breath. It is the animal sentient principle – which is the ability to experience pleasurable and aversive states. It is the vital force that animates the body and shows itself in breathing (Acts 20:10); it is different from the rational immortal soul (pneuma). It was translated as life (Matt.6:25; Mk.3:6; Jn.10:11; 13:37; 15:13; Acts 20:24), soul (Matt.10:28; 12:18; 16:26; Lk.1:44; Jn.12:27; 1Thess.5:23) Zoe (pron. dzo-ay) means vitality, intensive life, active life possessed by living things.
So, Zoe is life intensive, Bios is life extensive; Psuche is the individual life, the living being whereas Zoe is the life of that being.
Now, when Zoe is used in the Bible, it refers to God’s kind of life which is eternal or everlasting in nature, hence the usual qualification as Gk. aionios (pron. ahee-o-nee-os) meaning “eternal” or “everlasting”.
Sometimes, everlasting life or life eternal refers to the state of dwelling in eternity with God (Matt.19:29; Lk.18:20).
Our subject matter has to do with that life (in the absolute sense) which the Father has in Himself, and gave to the incarnate Son to have in Himself (Jn.5:26), which the Son manifested in the world (Jn.1:4; 10:10; 1Jn.1:2).
At regeneration (or re-procreation), man is imparted with this divine life and estranged from erstwhile vain life (Rom.6:14; Eph.4:17,18; 1Pet.4:3-5).
So, it comes through faith in Jesus Christ (Jn.3:15,16) and maintained by Him as such abide in Him and His word (Jn.6:35,63; 15:4-5,7).
If one does not abide in Christ through obedience to His word, the life will be lost i.e. withers and the person is lost (Jn.15:6; Heb.6:4-8).
It is only the obedient converts that qualify as the ‘sheep of the Lord’ (Jn.10:27).
Everlasting life (Zoe) is the possession of every child of God. It is the seed of God that makes the believers estrange to sin. (Jn.1:12; 1Jn.3:9). It is the universal identity of God’s children or members of God’s household (1Jn.3:8,10; Gal.6:10).
This life being the nature of God carries divine abilities: holiness, love, joy, goodness, creativity, wisdom, etc.
A pivotal piece of information is that it is the only means of conforming to Christ’s image/nature which was predestined before the conception of the world as the means of restoration of mankind (Rom.8:29; Eph.1:3-5,11).
Therefore, anybody that lacks or loses this divine vitality has lost out in eternity (Matt.7:22-23). The question now is, “do you have this life in you?”
What about your family members – children, parents, siblings?
Remember that if a loved one goes to hell, it is because there was nobody that was sufficiently concerned about him.
